About this event

Mental Imagery and Polyvagal Theroy: Increase Your Client's Sense of Safety to Maximize Results

October 19, 2023 | 11 AM PST

Presented by: Monica Canducci

The Polyvagal Theory explains how in every situation and interaction we can feel either safe or threatened, and points to the importance of co-regulation to help our clients achieve self-regulation, neuropsychological, and structural changes - meaning the desired and needed transformation. The more we are able to create a safe environment, starting by optimizing our own self-regulation and finding the most appropriate strategies for each client according to their background and life experiences, the more our work is effective. The use of simple strategies to improve our self-regulation and the use of appropriate mental images in the communication with our client can help us create the most functional context to support our client’s changes, making our practice more effective.

What you will learn:
By participating, you will learn: How language can trigger mental images, emotions, and psychophysiological changes in your client; Practical tools and strategies to improve your self-regulation - the ability to understand and manage your own psychophysiological responses (emotions, reactions, and behavior) while responding to your client’s demands; Tools and strategies to improve co-regulation and increase a sense of safety in your client; How to create functional mental images to support your client’s journey and improve effectiveness in your practice; Tools and strategies to support your client in the achievement of self-regulation, mind-body balance, and functional neuropsychological and structural changes.
