Use of An Original A.T. Still Treatment Method in Structural Integration Practice

September 15, 2023 | 11 AM PST

Presented by: Jeffrey Burch

In this webinar Certified Advanced Rolfer, and Visceral Manipulation teacher Jeffrey Burch will present a reconstruction of an original Andrew Taylor Still MD, manual therapy treatment method. This treatment method was painstakingly reconstructed by Richard van Buskirk DO. Jeffrey will describe the method, showing illustrations from his forthcoming book, Assessment and Treatment Methods for Manual Therapists, and then demonstrate the technique of a model. This method was originally developed for joints, but can be used on a wide range of other tissues. Jeffrey will demonstrate its use on a range of different body parts and tissue types. You will learn how to perform the basic form of the manipulation, and an interesting variation of the method.

What you will learn:
A highly effective technique to change tissue elasticity and span, useful in a wide range of tissues and body parts.
Variations of how to perform Osteopathic founder A. T. Still M.Ds versatile method.
See a live demonstration of how to perform these methods.
The interesting history of the treatment method.

Jeffrey completed the apprenticeship to teach visceral manipulation and although he is not part of the North American Visceral Manipulation Institution team, he independently offers courses in visceral manipulation with the permission of Jean Pierre Barral.  At the time Jeffrey trained at the Rolf Institute of Structural Integration® in Boulder, Colorado, that school was the only structural integration school in the world. Since then branches of the Rolf Institute® have opened in Munich, Germany, Sao Paolo, Brazil and Sydney, Australia. Several practitioners and teachers have left the Rolf Institute to start many new structural integration and related schools including the Guild for Structural Integration (GSI) , Hellerwork International (HWI), and the Aston Patterning Institute (API).

Jeffrey continues his membership with in the Rolf Institute®, is an affiliate of GSI, and has friendly relations with members and administration of both Hellerwork International and Aston Patterning Institute. The International Alliance of Structural Integrators (IASI) is an umbrella organization and certifying body for several quality schools of structural integration.
